our story

We are in love with Jesus. We believe life is a gift - a gift to be lived in communion with God and community with others. Practicing the way of Jesus is something we are constantly learning, humbled by, and transformed under. Jesus is renewing our minds and transforming our hearts as we are yoked to Him and practicing the art of rest in our God.

Over the last two years, God has been awakening our spirits to the centrality of His presence in our lives, the necessity of constant prayer: communion with the Creator Himself. He is revealing His desire for deep, intimate relationship with people, rooted in His love. The Local Church is an expression of His Kingdom on earth, centered around His love, His presence, prayer, rest, and intentional community. God calls His people to love Him with all they are and all they have (Mark 12:30), love others (Mark 12:31), act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him (Micah 6:8). We believe this happens as we intentionally seek God in our private lives, asking Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit of wisdom, discernment, and fear of the Lord. We ask Him to increase our capacity to wait for Him, to hear His voice, and to obey in love.

As God leads our hearts and our family, we believe He asks us to equip the saints for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12) and to share the Good News of His love through Jesus to the world (reference). We believe God has asked our family to do that in the Kansas City area. Both of us were born in Topeka, and I (Haley) grew up there. Most recently God moved us from Orange County, California with a fire to join in His Kingdom work in the Kansas City area. We genuinely want to be a part of what is already taking place here: to love, serve, and be fully present. But, we also want to offer an expression of gathering and serving as community through The Local Church in a way that honors the call God has given us to equip the saints here. We can’t wait to see what God does. May He build this church for His glory and His Kingdom. May people find love, hope, and truth within these walls and outside these walls as we take Jesus into our daily lives.
