our values:

abiding

We believe that Jesus and His love are central, foundational to everything. Jesus himself calls us to abide (to stay or remain) in Him as He abides in us (John 15). The primary way to remain in God’s love is through encountering His presence and in prayer. When we abide in His love, we learn to hear His voice, respond in love and obedience, and experience restoration in radical ways.

fun

We believe every good and perfect thing is from God (James 1:17) and that God made this world for His people to enjoy. We also believe that fun breaks barriers, builds trust, and creates foundation for relational connection. Fun is an avenue of gratitude that reminds us of what is good and offers opportunity for genuine laughter (which, as Proverbs tell us, is good medicine). In a world riddled with anxiety and fear, fun and laughter are healing and binding agents in community.

authentic relationships

We were made in the image of a Triune God (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - Genesis 1:27). God is in perfect community within Himself. However, out of love, He made humanity and invites us into this perfect union with Himself. To be made in the image of a Communal God, means we were also made for communal relationship: with Him and others. Because we live in a world broken by sin, to experience these relationships in their fullness will not exist until heaven. However, we can practice the restoration of relationship by doing life together in intentional, authentic community. We do this through love in honesty, vulnerability, accountability, forgiveness, and healthy boundaries. The Local Church longs to be a safe place where people can come with all their brokenness and beauty and experience the love, acceptance, and encouragement of genuine community as they grow into who they are created to be in Jesus. That means everyone can ask questions, accept limitations, celebrate others, and serve with great love.

kingdom minded

Jesus says to “seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). At The Local Church, we want to walk through life with a perspective fitted with “Kingdom Glasses.” Meaning: we will see the world through the lens of Jesus first. We want to live in surrender to love, service to others, radical generosity, “unhurried-ness”, and multiplication.

equipping

In the New Testament (Ephesians 4:12) followers of Jesus are called to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry.” In John 16 Jesus said that we remain in His love by doing what He commands. When Jesus left earth, He commanded His disciples to “go into all the nations, baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to do all I have commanded you,” (reference). To equip the saints for the ministry, we are to teach them to do all Christ commanded. This is something we cannot do on our own - we need the power of the Holy Spirit to teach, lead, empower, and equip us. However, God has gifted each of His people uniquely. As a collective Body of Christ, we can help each other discover our gifts, abilities, and unique callings in this life. We can teach each other how to share our stories, stand firmly in conviction, live contentedly, and share the Good News of Jesus with great joy.

how:

presence

presence

Encountering and being awakened to the constant, loving presence of God in our lives is foundational to transformation and restoration in His love. We seek a deeper awareness of His presence individually and corporately.

people

people

Community is essential to our holistic existence. We seek to intentionally experience authentic community through sharing life and stories in large group gatherings, around tables, and in homes.

purpose

purpose

We want to help each person discover who they are in Christ, what their unique role is, and how to live it out as we all participate in the restoration of all things to God.
